Are we there yet?

Did we survive Christmas?   Have we made it to New Years Day yet?

My holiday was perfect……I’m still holidaying.  One more party tomorrow.  Here.  We’re supposed to decorate cookies, but who’s foolin who?  Who feels like decorating cookies?  Christmas is over.  It’s amazing how quickly I get out of the Christmas spirit.  Once Christmas is over, I go into organizing mode.  How about you?

Since I’m still somewhat on holiday, I thought I would direct you to a few organizing features I’ve done in the past.  6a00e54f81b4268833010536e8428a970c-800wi

Organize in Style - Krista is actually a neighbor of mine.  We have since  met after I featured her.  She is a power house organizer that I keep threatening to drag into my scrap room.  You can see her full feature here.

Or how about Jolene.  jolene4She has a flavor for color and color coding.  You should see her pantry.  WOW!

Do you have plans to organize anything?  Do tell.  Got a great organizing site or blog?  Do tell.

These two girls sponsored this post.  I bet they have really organized jewelry making areas!

From me….to you.

Happy Holidays!  I hope your next week is full of memories and peace.   I’ve decided to take the next couple of days off from posting on TCB.  I want to be fully present in creating memories for my son….. and me sitting at the computer or checking emails in between cookie batches isn’t the memory I want him to have.  :)

Take the time to immerse yourself in making someone else’s holiday great and chances are……..yours will be too.

Happy Holidays from TCB!theone

Features of Christmas Past -Week!

It’s Christmas week. It’s crunch time. I’m all for easing up on the schedule when and where you can in busy times. Since each feature takes at least 2 hours of my time…..and sometimes more……I have decided to re-visit a few of my past featured bloggers. I’ve featured SO many people, I hope you take advantage of my featured list. Yes, I need to update it.

Remember Ellen? She’s one of those fancy illustrators. I met her online when I found her. She’s a gem. I love her. We tweet and fb back and forth. I hooked her up with a friend of mine looking for a fabric designer. She sent me one of her original works……which I LOVE!

I have been so lucky to meet such amazing women that I call my friends…….even though I have never met them in real life.

You can read her first featured here.

You can see her blog at

Sugar Scrubs in 10 minutes

I love me a good sugar scrub. So I decided to make some this season. I mean…..how hard could it be right?

I picked up some Almond Oil……some people use olive or sesame, but I wouldn’t use a regular veggie oil. IMG_5687

I used organic sugar that looks a bit off white in color and have also used a brown granulated sugar……before they add what ever they add to make it moist.

I picked up some essential oils from my local Whole Foods. I bought Jasmine and Sweet Orange. The Jasmine will run you about $13, but the sweet orange is only about $7. Both smell great.

I found my jars at Fred Meyer……a one stop shopping store. I bet Target, walmart etc. would have these too. Jars were $3.99.

Mix oil and sugar together until the sugar is moist. Add several drops of jasmine or whatever scent you choose.

Getting into the jar was a cinch too. I cut the bottom out of a plastic baggy. Placed the open bottom end inside the jar. Using a large serving spoon, I scooped the wonderful scrub inside. Gently pull the bag free, close the lid and wrap your bow around it. IMG_5689

You are done!

I can’t wait to take a shower.

Edited to add: I used 3 cups sugar, 1 cup oil, many many drops of scented oil.

Don’t forget to enter my Fabulous Friday Giveaway…..just scroll down.

These 2 amazing women are sponsoring this post. I bet they like sugar scrubs too.

eddierosswreath013_thumb27Being in the holiday mood, she was on top of it and planted her amaryllis.  I also need to get on this with my paper whites.  Such a great delight in the dead of winter to have these gorgeous flowers blooming.  The planters aren’t bad either.   amaryliss 003_thumb[30]   Before I head down Christmas alley, I wanted to show you what she did with this Early American style coffee table.  I’ve seen a few of these in my lifetime.  Even with paint, you’d have a hard time getting around the making this work…….but leave it to her.procrastinatorafter 024_thumb[2]She used it for her turtle habitat.  I think that’s what she has in there.  Perfect for that table.  And look at cute little Rosie.  She looks related to my Maybelline.halloween 007_thumb[16]OK, back to the holidays………

Easy toffee gift idea.  Love toffee.  She has the full recipe and tutorial.  No excuses now.toffee 022_thumb[17]      To decorate, she MADE these hurricanes.  MADE THEM!  dollarstoreloot 022_thumb[12]dollarstoreloot 004_thumb[7]She started out with 3 glasses and 3 candle sticks…..waved her magic wand and TaDa!!!

And these ceramic coasters are a very popular gift idea.  Simple, functional and cute.  chickencoasters 024_thumb[18]
