The House in the Roses

Cielo takes the crown for being the most romantic blogger! The House in the Roses.........If you like a romantic home and lots of ideas for making your home look romantic, you must visit Cielo.........even her name is romantic. Just wait til you see her..........I think she should be a model for one of those romance novels......long flowing hair, exotic dark eyes... etc.....

Cielo LOVES roses.............LOVES THEM! Crazy for them, her blog has them all over. In fact she just got home from visiting my home..........well not my actual home........but, Portland.........the city of Roses. I would have invited her to my home had I known she was coming to Portland........but I only have one rose bush, she would have been so disappointed with me.
It was fun seeing her write up on what she thought of Portland. It's a great place..........so great that we moved to the other side of the river for better schools. LOL..............no really, it is a great city and I still feel like that's where I live.........I'm only 15-20 min away. Cielo did you eat at Jake's? Did you hit Powell's Books?

Cielo has an appreciation for pretty table settings. Placing just the right arrangement to get that feeling. Love the green apples with this.Or maybe you prefer something more formal?

It's fun to see her mix it up........cottage meets romance. You can tell her husband simply adores her giving her full reign to fluff the house..........as it should be...........right ladies?See that dresser to the left? She repainted it..........I think the wicker chair is a repurposed item too. She's not partial to just roses, she admires all flowers...........the more the better. And since I'm a bit distracted with outdoor areas right now, I couldn't help post this shot of her patio space. I'll have a margarita please. You won't be disappointed when you visit her. She has a fun style of writing, she's sweet and she has some pretty photos. Please tell her I sent you.

I'm in the Snooty Womans Club Blogs of Fame

Thanks so much to the women over at Snooty Women's Club. I am so glad that they can tell from my blog that I can be a bit snooty at times.........We all need to be at some time or another, right? In my old age, I have become a coffee snob, a lotion snob, a bare minerals snob, a toothpaste snob, an underwear snob.........you know, the important stuff........we get set in our ways and I don't think it's because we are being rigid.........it's because we have finally figured out what we like..........right?
Actually it means:
S - Social
N- Neighborhood
O- of
O- Outstanding
T -Talented
Y - Young Spirited Woman

The Snooty Women's Club has many features of women with great blogs. Check them out.

Thanks again ladies, that was so sweet of you.

Make and Takes

OK.........I'm not sure, but I'm thinking I have told you all how much I love tutorials! Even though I can be crafty, I'm not always a risk taker. Some crafts I think are too hard, so I don't try them. Lame....I know. But you mom's know.......you know how precious your time is.........I don't need to suck up a bunch of time on a project that's not going to work. Let someone else figure it out........then teach me. That's my motto. That's what Make and Takes is all about.

Marie with Make and Takes is the typical gung ho mom that makes alot of us look lazy.........not that we really are......it just looks that way next to super mom Marie. She's got one up on us though.......she was a kindergarten teacher for a few years before staying home with her own darlings..........see I told you, she a professional. I know how these k-8 teachers think..........you see I had 4 room mates that were k-8 elementary ed majors........I was the only k-12 PE major. These gals saved EVERYTHING. McDonald's Styrofoam big mac containers (yes, mikky d's has come a long way.......at least they're not using that crap anymore), toilet paper rolls, buttons, ........you name it and they had it. Fast forward 20 years and I found myself saving all this junk for crafty things for my son. I should have never scoffed at their habits.

Anyhoooo................................Marie with Make and Takes has so many great ideas for family fun. Some really simple and some really inventive. She keeps these kids busy. What happened to watching TV?
Kids love stamping with food. Love these Apple Cards......
And I have always wanted to do this........melt down a few crayons.
Into these........what fun.
Hand puppets are always fun for little ones.
Now this one is one I can honestly say that I have never seen or heard of. Painted bread that you toast. Yum yum.......I think. But I bet the kids loved it.

And another one I have never heard of or thought of. Probably because it takes planning......as in planning ahead. You take a bowl, place a toy inside, fill with water and freeze. You can place it in their bath or let them play in the sink. ..........because you know how they love playing in the sink.....and it NEVER makes a mess. Just wait til her son wants to play in the sink with his hot wheels that have been in the sand box all winter.......yea.....no mess. With Spring just starting to show it's self here, I loved this idea. And it's recycling at the same time........I guess that's really what all these elementary teachers are doing.........recycling. This bird feeder is so cute. And it doesn't look too hard. But for those rainy days you know will happen, here is a project that uses...........you guessed it........a toilet paper roll. She's got the tutorial on her site. In fact EVERYTHING is pretty much a tutorial. I will leave you with this last project that I think is brilliant! Etched casserole dishes.......Great for a gift or just so you get it back. The tutorial is on her site.If you have little ones around, this site is great! So many simple everyday ideas to entertain even the most active child.

Don't forget to tell her how you found her.

Just Treva

No new blog post today, but I did want to steer you back in the direction of my dear friend Treva. I featured her when I first started TCB. We used to have coffee almost every Friday. She used to take my classes and unknowingly put on her own show. We miss her. Treva is a probably the most non-judgemental, free spirit I have ever met. Treva is Treva, a true non-conformist.

She is known around the PDX area for her amazing jewelery, (I have that necklace above....the larger circle) but once you spend time with her, you quickly realize her artistic talent moves into many different mediums. She paints, she sews, she writes poetry, her artistic eye is all her own. Just living is art to her. She is the only one that can pull off having red and wine colored walls in the same room.
Treva and her family have decided to move from their amazing home. They are moving to Mexico. They are waiting for their home to be built and in the mean time, she is staying with her sister in Texas. She's going crazy. CRAZY! So, if you're looking for a fun blog to read daily, never knowing where she'll take you.......head over to Treva's.
