Inspiring Creations

I’m loving these paper flowers…..oh so cute and oh so simple.  My favorite motto lately.

You could use any paper design, but I really like the music sheets.  Old books would be great too.

Cut your circles……… Crumple your circles………   Uncrumple and distress with ink……..Glue and stack……add your button……. And you’ve got some cute little flowers to embellish just about anything.If you’ve been reading my blog for over a year, you may know how much I love pears.  She took an ordinary fake pear, whipped up some decoupage……tore a few pieces of paper…….Here’s the finished product.  Great idea. She’s pretty crafty in the kitchen too.  Lots of yummy recipes to try and you can print off her cards…….. then you can make this cute recipe organizer.  I like this because you can throw it in your purse…..that way when you’re shopping, you can pull out the recipe and make sure to get all the ingredients.   Ok party people in the TCB house.  Make me proud…..go leave her a comment letting her know I featured her.

Craftaholics Anonymous

This cute girl Linda emailed me a bit ago letting me how much she loved my blog…..I must admit, I never tire of those kind of emails….hint hint……but she also said she didn’t think she was “worthy”.  PA-LEEEZ……she’s amazing.  Way craftier than I’ll ever be.  She is so crafty that she needed an intervention, so she started Craftaholics Anonymous .Makes me feel a bit guilty that I’m posting this while drinking a hot steaming Hot Buttered Rum.  But I’ll get over it. 

The post that landed her in my FFF (future feature file) was this one on creating a piece of art from pinecones. I love how she finds unique ways to decorate her home that not only look amazing, but are thrifty.  You all know how cheap I am, so I love ideas like this.  It takes talent to decorate on the cheap.  It’s much more rewarding too.  She’ll even show you how because she’s got a ton of tutorials!  TUTORIALS!!!Wanna talk unique?   Would you look at these fabric scraps!  Just look at them.  They’re beautiful!  She has a tutorial on these too.  She placed a paper towel cardboard roll in the middle so you can add a candle or something.  What a great idea that doesn’t cost any money…….if you sew that is and have loads of extra fabric around.  Ahh….burlap.  Love the stinky stuff.  She made a wreath.  Another great idea.  Here’s more proof that you CAN have amazing decor without shopping in one of those high priced cool places.  You’ll need an old crib mattress thingy.  I suppose you could also use an old steal gate too.  Grab more burlap…..any color….tie around the edges.  Clip a few photos and you’ve got yourself a great wall piece and conversation starter.Then add a bunch of round embroidery hoops with cute fabric and you’ve got a better decorated hallway than you could have done with Pottery Barn.

Amazing isn’t it?  And she thought she wasn’t worthy?    While we’re swooning over burlap projects….I may as well show you this burlap pillow that’s been stenciled. What I love the most……is she filled it with plastic grocery bags…….and she’s from Utah!   She’s recycling. There’s hope for Utah….I’ve even had a few comments from Utahians putting me in my place saying they DO recycle.  I love being put in my place.  So if you’re from Utah and you recycle……let me know!!!

 

For a quick and easy solution for decorating her son’s bedroom, she worked her magic and came up with adding these cute alphabet cards to the wall and painting a chair.  Oh how I love paint.

      Another form of recycling ………. love it. 

I know it seems too late to start an Advent Calendar, but really it’s not.  She decided to use baby food jars.  Turned out pretty cute didn’t it?

At Second Street

It’s crunch time people…….for those of you hosting Thanksgiving……you know what I’m talkin about.  Time to try out those last minute decor ideas, maybe try out your table setting, shampoo the carpets….or am I the only crazy one?  I don’t think so. 

I found a fairly new blog.  I love new blogs.  They’re so excited to show us everything.  A Second Street.

 

First of all I love how she created her own cornucopia……out of burlap no less.  She MADE this with a bit of chicken wire, burlap and autumn goods.  That’s something we could whip up this weekend.  Guaranteed to impress your guests.

Why am I showing you Halloween stuff? Well because creativity has no boundaries.  Actually I was so impressed with the disposable cake stand, I just couldn’t keep the excitement to myself.

   I’m thinking this would be perfect for Christmas goodies too.  Of course you’d use Christmas paper……..you could even use wrapping paper if you’re not a scrapbooker that has an over abundance of paper……..don’t look at me like that……..I’ll use it soon enough. 

Below are the easy materials she used.  Simple!  Love that. She’s a crafty mom with 4 kids, so she’s a pro at making cakes…..seriously…….she’s a pro. 

She shares her marshmallow fondant recipe with us on her blog.    She loves to repurpose clothing too. She made a cute hat from an old sweater.  She’s just that crafty.  Go visit her and leave her a nice comment……because that’s what TCB readers too.  You’re the best by the way!

The Graphics Fairy

I found Karen  with Graphics Fairy from my Get Your Craft On Tuesdays. She posted this project and I just fell in love with it.  It looks simple to actually do, but won’t look like a simple project when you’re done.  Plus with the holidays approaching, you may need a few extra of these……..unless all your furniture is distressed like mine and it doesn’t really matter……although water rings are hard to get off.

She has a great tutorial on her site.  You could have them done in time for the holidays…..

I love the rustic/french look.  Even better in that urn.

 

If you’re not a numbers fan, she has SO MANY vintage graphics to choose from.  All FREE!  She does have a few rules, so be sure to read up on them before going too crazy.

The possibilities are endless.  I’m loving this scrolly looking label. 

  Great ideas for putting on older bottles, or even your plastic soap dispenser……why not.  Much prettier than something saying “soft soap”.

I am drawn to anything eggs like flys drawn to………well you know what I mean.  I like em.  Eggs.  I like to look at them.  I like to eat them.  I may do something really crazy and make my coasters with the egg graphic.  Crazy talk.

  Oh my…….this looks like you could use it for a blog header.  You all know I have a peeping tom problem……I LOVE seeing other people’s homes.  I am so thrilled with blogging because so many people show us what they got…..decor and furniture people.  Gasp…..get your mind outta the gutter.

Nap Time Crafts

Personally I was too tired to craft when my baby slept……..10 yrs ago.  Since I was an “older” mom, I took everyone’s advice and slept with him……….I’m sure I would have made my Mother Inlaw proud had I used that time cleaning…….

Anywhoooo……..Serena has started a new blog nap time crafts.  For a new blog, it sure is plum full of great ideas. 

Nap time is her creative time.  She has so many cute crafty things sure to keep us busy for a bit.  And I’m sure she’s just getting warmed up.

I LOVE this idea……..I have seen it before……she’s wanted to start an etsy shop to bring in a little extra $$……..I think she should make these for people.  I’ll take a “B”  Mrs. B if you’re reading………look away now.  (yes, my son’s teacher reads my blogs……….how scary is that?)  Serena seems to be the queen at making gifts that have that high gasp appeal, but are relatively inexpensive.  She made these plates…………well she bought the plates……….but she added cute vinyl lettering or graphics, placed a bunch of homebaked goodness on them, wrapped them up in some pretty cellophane and gave it as a gift.  Not actually sure of the cellophane, but I’m sure she didn’t just hand them over unwrapped.   If it were me, I would have warmed store bought cookies up and delivered them…….cuz I don’t have that LDS gene…….but I think I’m learning.  :)  Those girls are making the rest of us look bad and I’m not gonna take it anymore.  OK, this is just pure cuteness.  She got this idea from someone…….not sure who….but this would also be a great teacher gift…….I know she was using them as learning tools…….because criminy she’ll probably home school too.  And no, that’s not a real apple. These look familiar don’t they?  She got the idea from Lil Boo Blue……who I featured here a while ago……love these.

What a great project for cheap art………or kid created art…..and of course I love it most because it’s recycling…….that’s something I got on those LDS moms.    So off you go to give her a nice warm welcome to the TCB family.  Enjoy.

Lil Blue Boo

I’m warning you right now………this woman is a show off. You’re going to want to hate her, but you’ll soon realize you can’t because she’s so dang sweet……UGH!   All the people I feature inspire me somehow…..or they wouldn’t be featured……right?  lil blue boo not only inspires me, but I now have a bruised chin from hitting it on my desk every time I come to another one of her amazing projects…. For crying in a bucket….. ….she made this belt from rice bags………….. who IS this woman?  McGiver?  She has fabulous TUTORIALS on her blog.   She even has PDF patterns for all her other projects….Some look free, some you can buy at a reasonable price.

She loves using old t-shirts to make cloths for her daughter.  This is such a hip way to recycle. You all know I love recycling.  I can’t imagine what fun it would be shopping your local thrift store looking for old T’s to recycle.  Take this women’s shirt…….she cut it up and made a darling dress for her daughter.Her little girl is dressed in custom designs just about every day.

 

Here’s an example and pattern she gives for a few pants she makes.  Here’s one of the pair.  Those are SO DANG CUTE!

And if it wasn’t enough to create custom pants from old t-shirts……let’s really show off and paint some flames.  She downloaded a template which she also shares……of course……...because if she didn’t that would at least give us reason to not like her…..she also has a very detailed tutorial for those of us that want to try it.  Because she’s nice.She is like Emeril……she has kicked up recycling a couple notches.  BAM!  Why just send your cardboard boxes out with the garbage or recycling?  Why not save some of it and make amazing wall art that Andy Warhol  would be proud of.  And yes she has a details TUTORIAL…..because she’s nice like that.Now here are a couple of projects that take more patience and talent than I will ever have…….even if I practiced every day all day.

First……here’s the room she painted for her daughter.  I know!  You want to……you just can’t. She’s too nice.And this…..She made this belt from ribbon.  It makes your head spin…….but of course she the most detailed of TUTORIALS that even I thought I could do it……….for maybe a second………because it also looks like you may need a masters in math……..and we all know I don’t have that…..although I do have to count in 8’s a lot for my job.Darling.
