A feature on TCB is chosen solely on craft, decorating or artistic inspiration. I do not do a criminal or civil background check on anyone. I do not look for prior DWI, theft or other conditions. To my knowledge, no one I feature falls under these guidelines prior to being featured. I do not base my features on race or gender. I do not care what religion or political party a feature holds. I do not check for blood type, parenting skills or how educated a person may be. My purpose is to show that no matter what you come from, we can all be creative.
I am making the above statement due to a recent feature being brought to my attention as having a record of theft. I have removed her feature.

Never thought I'd see a disclaimer like this...can't believe the blogging world has come to this!!!! Keep up the good work and keep sharing those blogs...really enjoy finding new ones.
happy monday
OY! Sorry you had to deal with that. Thanks for keeping on keepin on with the "good stuff".
Sorry that you felt the need to post that.
Please know I am among the people who appreciate what you do at face value... you look out on the web to help us creative types find information about doing creative type things. So...
THANKS!!!!!! I APPRECIATE YOU!!!!
That Amy (Caffinated Cropper) is a little sketchy too...
tee hee ;)
Keep up the great work Lady*!*
I couldn't have said it any better than the posters above me. {HUGS}
Yikes! I think very highly of you! Thank you for such a great blog.
I love your blog! :) Hope you are having a great day!
Kim, I think we all appreciate all the wonderfulness you find for us. It's amazing that you find the time to do this at all! We certainly don't expect you to go out of your way researching each one of your features!
Kim, I love this blog.
What a shame that you have had to put such a disclaimer on your blog.
Keep up the good work - we love it.
Alison
You would think that people have better things to do that sit on their computer trying to dig up dirt on others. I also enjoy your blog and would not hold you accountable for others actions.
Ouch! You know I support ya girl!
You shouldn't have to post the disclaimer. I'm a big fan of your blog - keep up the great work!

dang! i take a temp job and become blog-disabled and suddenly I miss a good scandal.
keep up your hard work for those of us too lazy (or clueless) to do it on our own!!!!!
While I do not hold you responsible for knowing the background on people, I am glad you pulled the feature when you were alerted to the situation. To know that someone who was featured may very well have created her work -- however stunning -- with stolen material really sat wrong with me. I wish the person in question the best of luck as she addresses her issues.
xooxx

i thought you were nailing me for scrap-lifting. :)
i have put a disclaimer in my blog that i do scrap-lift.
i wish i didn't feel i had to but i sometimes you just have to do it. my creative self needs to make that adorable page i see in that magazine to be quieted so i can go on with my day.
thanks for keeping us honest kim.
Hmmm....well thiefing takes some creativity, right :)?! We're all still behind you. No worries!
Well, Well, Well, what do you know...I thought all scrapbookers were the nicest people who lived perfect lives...
Seriously, you can't do background checks on everyone, but when it comes to your attention that this person in a convicted criminal they should be removed. Glorifing a criminals work is insensative and insultive. They should not be rewarded in anyway. This is not a victimless crime we are talking about.
Please remember, there is a VICTIM here.
You can not simply appreciate the work only. The artist is NOT seperate from the work.
Love your work! Have you always been this creative.
*shaking my head* Drama, drama, drama....
Thanks for the disclaimer - but I love your blog regardless! How could you possibly know your crafters background?
Sorry for the bad experience, but keep up the good work!
Psssst.... I stole a Hello Kitty comb & mirror set from a Hallmark store when I was seven. My mom made me return it. Just thought I should get it out there..
Love you. Love your blog. Keep it coming!
Hi! I just found your blog today and I love it! I'm Jenny, and I have a blog design business, Pink Armchair Designs. I'm an amateur designer, so my prices are cheap cheap cheap! Just wanted to stop in and say hi so that you could check me out! Thanks!
What is the world coming to??
I never thought I'd see this in blogland..... Thant's very sad!!!
Keep up the good work, Kim!
WOW...Whodda thunk? AND who has time to check out these people? Geez, I do good to keep up with my own blog and checking in on my favs...I for one...LOVE what you do...and am very appreciative of your generosity to the creative wonders out there...besides its not your "gig" to play Nancy Drew! Pulling her was the right thing to do...but I know it's a bummer to have to do that...not to mention include this disclaimer. I hope this doesn't mean I'm going to have to start getting my attorney to "proof" my blogs before posting...geez!
Keep up your fab work...I love it!
Blessings...
Teresa
Excellent response. I enjoy visiting your blog and checking out the crafty folks you feature. :)
Kim I am the minority that isn't sure why you had to pull her work for something that happened 2 years ago, what happened to forgiveness and people paying their debt to society, love your blog and for the record I don't know her from Adam just wonder why folks have to be so nasty in this hobby...
oh boy...I love your blog! I am always stopping by & getting blewn away by how creative some people are...thanks for opening my eyes & my creativity.
Hmm. I cannot believe that anyone would judge you and your blog based on the behavior of one of the people you feature.
I hope that this doesn't discourage you from showing us all those creative blogs out there, because you are an excellent resource!
what happened to forgiveness and people paying their debt to society,
Michelle, the person in question hasn't repaid her debt and flaunts it in her victims face daily thus adding insult to injury. If you've read anything recently about this person, you would know that restitution has not been met.
Kim, I think you have a fabulous blog. I have enjoyed reading it and looking at the art of those within the industry. Thanks for all you do.
I also enjoy coming to your blog. I'm sorry that you've had to deal with this and make a "disclaimer." No one should hold you responsible for other people that you know primarily from how they present themselves on the internet.
Please keep up the great work with this blog. :)
Wow! I thought this blog world was utopia and no bad people were allowed!
Okay- so we did chew bubblegum against our mom's instructions under the stairwell in elementary schooll! Whew- we feel so much better that that is off our chests!!
Have a great one!
blessings,
kari & kijsa
I don't like people picking on you!! The way I see it, you removed the "perp" (of which I have no idea what you are talking about) and the case is closed.
Now, what else do you have to show us!!
Big hugs!
Linda
I love your blog, have from day 1, full of creative inspiration, you should not have to deal with things like this- like you said-criminal background checks are not included!
Keep on posting-we love the eye candy you bring to us!
Dude, what what up with that?
I've been lurking here for a little while, and although I don't know the circumstances surrounding this event, it would make me sad to think that someone was ostracized because of some past event.
While I admittedly don't know the details of her "convicted theft", I'm feel inclined to say that I wouldn't have necessarily cared...
Great site, though! Thanks for introducing so many talented people!!
I just came to the site for the first time when a picture of my daughter was one of the ones posted with the crafter that was at the center of the drama that just took place.
Just wanted to stand up for her and say our family love love loves her and will be working with her for years to come. So sad people can't move on!!!!!!!!
Her work would would bless many peoples lifes!!
I'm sorry that you had to put a disclaimer up. I didn't realize at first what the disclaimer was about. It's a shame when things happen and I would hope someone would say this was inspired by or this is my version and give credit to the artist. Many people work hard and they should be appreciated for their works. Those of us who are inspired by them, me included, need to give credit where credit is due.
good god I am soo sick of the blogger drama! I just had to deal with some of my own by posting what I think is helpful information to a blogger on DesignSponge only to have someone comment that I am bitter. People need to get a life and I mean it, don't you have something better to do?
The world is full of colorful people and if you can't handle it well then go live in one of those gated communities with all their stupid rules!
Kim forget everyone else, do what you do best and tell the rest to mind there own P's and Q's! Should I be taken off because well you know I did smoke a fine substance allot in college!!! That's right folks and other things as well! Life is just to short to worry about all this silly stuff and while the thing this person did it in no way is your fault for highlighting her, how the hell are you supposed to know her business!! I would tell the bloggers worry about themselves.
okay I am back to work and real things!
I gained twenty pounds just looking at the pics!!! YUM!
I thought your disclaimer was a joke. I missed all the bloggy drama, apparently. Love your site because it helps me find other fun and creative sites that I'd never discover on my own. Thanks!
