Chirp Chirp

Today I am choosing a few of our peeps.  From our Peeps widget.  That’s one of the benefits of being part of our flock…….you may just get some extra attention.

We started that widget to give women a place to promote their blog, etsy or site without breaking the bank.  I must say……there are some pretty cool sites that are a part of our flock.

Rosey Little Things has received 2079 hits from us so farimage Flip Flops and Applesauce (a past feature of mine……could you ask her why she doesn’t have my feature button up?)  She’s received almost 800 hits.  Besides making sandwiches, she also makes coloring books you can purchase.

Morey Girl she just joined the beginning of January and has already received 244 visits.

If you’re looking for more exposure for your blog, etsy, or site….and don’t want to break the bank…..you may want to consider Chic Chick.  It’s a thrifty way to advertise.  $5.95 /mo will put you on 100s of blogs.  You can see more information here.

Come back to see who won the giveaway tonight.

Blooming!

Teresa is bigger than life.  She is like the Fairy God Mother flying all over blog land sprinkling her glitter of positive excitement for all things lovely.

Blooming in Bainbridge

Teresa is one of those people that you know you would just feel right at home with and be her bff right when you meet her.  You can tell she lives her life with passion and no regrets.  Must be her southern roots, even though she’s been transplanted to Bainbridge Island in Washington (only about 3 hours from me.)

When visiting her blog, you’ll learn quickly that one of her true loves is her pup, Doogan.  I mistakenly thought he was the same breed as my Maybelline, a Labradoodle, but he’s a soft coat wheaten terrier.  So cute.  And she adores him.image I have fallen in love with her decor style!  I fantasize about having all white!  But with a 10 yr old boy and a black dog that gets muddy….(don’t have to worry about hair, cuz we all know labradoodles don’t shed)…….I wonder how she does it with Doogan?  It’s gorgeous isn’t it?  imageimage

This photo below is a bit fuzzy once I blew it up….but you can still soak up the beauty.image For different times of the year, she will change it up a bit…..Lovely.image  She loves to entertain.  She knows how to throw a dinner party for sure.  I love it when someone can stick to all white……I haven’t learned that yet.imageShe plans her dinner parties, writing everything down in a journal. imageI think this is on a side board somewhere.  The cake plates, the cloche, all the white………love it.imageAnd look at this!  She made those bread sticks…….I wouldn’t know how to act.imageIf you’re ever lucky enough to visit, she just may have this waiting for you. The girl has style!imageSticking with her southern roots, she doesn’t make corn bread from a box ( I do), she makes it from scratch like so many of her other yummy creations on her blog.imageYum!image    She’s as cute as a button…….happy happy happy!  Stop by and tell her hello, it will make your day.image       Throw Doogan a doggy treat too.  image

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway….scroll below.  Also if you’re in Arizona, I’ll be speaking at Bloggy Boot Camp, May 1st.  More information here.

Barefoot and Pregnant

If you really want to get my attention, then just paint your door red.  Oh how I love a red doorIMG_0484But if you want to knock my socks off, then just design a dress and use discarded drapes for fabric. Yes…….she did.  She used old curtains and made this dress.  IMG_2636Whatever………

Barefoot in the Kitchen is another multi-talented super mom…….and yes…….she’s pregnant too.  :) She majored in Home and Family so she has put her degree to use…….she even sells her dresses.  IMG_2142If you sew……or you think you can……she has a couple of tutorials.  TUTORIALS!  She shows one for this adorable dress below.  Don’t judge me, but I’d wear that if it was in my size.  It is THAT cute.IMG_2753  She puts skirts on just about everything……..I love a sink skirt.  I even made one once……..for my bathroom sink in my 1940s apt in Portland.  Amazing what velcro and a cute shower curtain will do.IMG_1151 I love this photo below.  Look at that adorable room.  The baby is cute too.  She’s got quite the story about how she slipped going down the stairs with this baby.  That was one of my biggest fears……So glad everything turned out OK.IMG_1589 Just incase you thought perhaps she flunked the baking section of her degree……..Nope.  She has lots of really yummy looking treats.  This is a double chocolate cake.  Oh my!IMG_1542 Or chocolate chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches.  I’m a goner.IMG_0578

Loved her writing.  Loved all her family stories……and I realized that we were both in Utah at the same time last Summer!  We probably passed each other in Roberts.  Go welcome her to the TCB club.  Make me proud.  :)

Come back tomorrow for Friday’s Giveaway!

It’s a Big Deal

Marie from Make and Takes………a past feature of mine that everyone and their dog knows……or at least should………anywhooo…….Marie emailed me last week and told me to take a peek at her friends blog……well………..you don’t have to tell me twice.

I can’t image being a friend of Marie’s……….the pressure.  The creative pressure.  :)

No Biggie is her friend.  No Biggie is anything but a no biggie.  I love her photos and want to know what lens she’s using.

Her blog is a little bit of everything.  She’s cute as a button…….pun intended…and she even has a tutorial on how to make these adorable pendant buttons….TUTORIAL!!! 3238497288_4e152f56e5_bWhile we’re talking birthdays………she’s pretty resourceful. 4273735638_ee54a9e0b4_b We’ve all seen the tacky birthday banner that’s been around since 1970……..Well…….she decided it needed a coat of paint.  What a fabulous idea!!!  Just cut the letters up to hang with clothes pins.  Love it. She didn’t need to do that ……..she is the die cut queen and probably owns every alphabet Provo Craft makes.4272991025_d038a989ef_bThen she had these clippy things she found for a big discount.4273735420_80d54aab04_bShe painted those too…..Great idea to do all black & white photos and one color……..cute banner too. (die cut queen)4273735278_8cb8e844db_bShe obviously likes paper crafts…….cute ideas too.3637277723_a4f811d721_bThese Utah girls have got some pressure…..Everyone scrapbooks there………except my sister who never uses her craft room.  This above is a Fathers Day Card.  If you have a Man in your life that likes to golf…….this is perfect.  So simple, but yet so so so cute.

She had all these white buttons left over from another project…….so she decided to make a magnet board with them.  The embossing is a cool touch.3544111001_6a0fd50739_bOK……..I have GOT to do this. Glass Etching.3640918092_2cf643b955_b I have been wanting, planning to do this for a very long time.  I love glass etching.   This must be in the book of Mormon,  because every LDS gal I know……..can do this and has.  My sis gave me the idea of doing this to a glass pyrex dish on the bottom, so you know it’s yours.  Or do it as a gift……or like she did below….Wrapped up…….. it looks so perfect. What a great looking gift. 3640106375_ff9d574351_bHer paper crafts are making me want to break my Cricut out.

To keep herself inspired, she found all these clip boards, and she knew just how to use them.…….  THAT is original.  Why not? Why not use our expensive magazines for wall art?……. I love it.  I also love her photo wall. cbwWe love a thrifty girl that can give us ideas for our next hunt.

seriously………what a find.b&aOr this one!!!  THIS is cool!b a   She’s a good mom……….she’s got her Valentines Day decor up.  Speaking of being a mom……..she’s got a great adoption story on her blog too.  So sweet.  3268271060_806a99eb50_oHere’s a little trick I learned from her on filling up that apothecary jar.  Resourceful……. love these kind of tricks……don’t know why.3268263278_b7fb0a8e61_b  Be still my heart…….have you ever seen such a simple but great idea?  Green M&Ms and pink hearts.  IF and that’s a big IF…….if you still have them after Valentines, you could swap out the ribbon and place a shamrock in them………..she’s got me thinkin…….3267439745_77cf61af8e_b You know the drill……….go get inspired!

Thanks so much for all your links yesterday!  It’s still up and running if you want to add something.  Also, thanks for leaving so many comments on my featured bloggers.  Smooch!

Stitched Portraits

I remember trying my hand at embroidering when I was a little girl….I loved the old pillow cases with embroidered flowers, or crocheted edges………then I figured out at that tender age, I had no talent or patience for such things and would rather spend my time outside jumping off hay stacks and splitting my tongue……….I should have realized right then, that a needle prick would heal much faster and the embroidering skills would endure me much longer.  Live and Learn.

Check Out Girl took my breath away when I visited her. 4271898639_1123c60210_b I was skyping with Cindy from Skip to my Lou (who will also be with me at Bloggy boot Camp) when she told me to check out Check Out Girl.  Both of us marveled at the exquisite talent, photo after photo.  Then Cindy said to me “you should feature her”  ………like she had to say anything……I had her in my FFF (future feature file) so fast, it made Marion Jones looks slower than her pre-steroid days.

I noticed while exploring Melissa’s site, how relaxed I was feeling.  It was like a good book………you just don’t want it to end.  Photo after photo was a  treat full of the most amazing little pieces of art………so original.

Can you imagine having this?  4260066150_9ec5ba8387_bOr better yet……giving this as a gift?  Let’s just say, none of my friends were this talented for my wedding.  Love’em anyway. Do you think she has everyone on her Facebook inviting her to every event of theirs in hope of receiving a stitched gift?  Melissa, I’m having my son’s 11th birthday party in Feb if you’d like to come.  4260089186_f093c86ea8_bI bet this made Grandma cry!  A felted portrait of all her grandkids.4188294568_5b93560442_bThe initials have meaning……they do.  She said they do.

Showing us the process is so interesting.  4194660817_2fe64a5b0b_bShe’s got a couple of full tutorials…….start with a blank canvas.4131331556_6533e4090b_oDraw out your shaped pieces…….yea…..she lost me right there.4131336136_249254168e_b Lay them out……..4130568391_676960dffb_o       Start to stitch……..4131331370_1e1e50f4c6_o

A bit of detailing…….4130522289_8603ebfaed_oMore detailing…….4130523523_c6f132b01c_oTah-Dah!!!!4131203686_deeab83735_b

     How about a simpler project?

I can do that……I can cut out circles of felt….got it.3821114349_9dbce6744f_o Wheee…….I on my way……..I can lay them out too.  Don’t you love how little circles make flowers?  That always surprises me.3821114565_e4226b3987_oThen stitch them on……….lost me.  Can I use glue?3821921200_f06093785d_o  Here’s something a little different than her felt portraits…..The detailing is amazing.4273834573_5cd9755a36_bI’m obviously late to the party, because it looks like Marta beat me to the punch bowl……. again…..Martha featured her on HER website.  Picture 1

Before you count Melissa as unapproachable because of your outragous talent……..she likes thrifted stuff too.  She got this couch FREE!!!  We should let her in the club.

3780807741_b6db048479_o

Grab a cup of joe………or cocoa and head over to Melissa’s.  It will be the best time spent.  While you’re there….leave her a comment to make me look good.  (remember……it’s all about making me look good)

Tomorrow----Get Your Craft On Link up.  Wheee!
