Today I am dreaming of spring......well actually summer weather! We've only had a couple of teaser days here in the NW. It doesn't stop us from getting all giddy about flowers. Planning my flower pots every year is such a chore......I fuss about it, stress about it.......I want them to be spectacular..........and usually just end up with the same thing I had last year. So you can imagine my excitement when I can across Darlene's blog, Our Creative Life a few months ago and she had photos AND "recipes" for flower boxes! HOLD MY HAND! I love it! That right there plopped her in my FFF.
I think every front porch area should be pretty. It really doesn't take much. Keep your area swept.........(come to think of it........I better to sweep) Place at least one flower pot with REAL flowers or a plant and keep them watered........nothing worse than a pot full of dead flowers.......especially if there are shoes thrown all over the porch too....... Really that's all there is too it. Of course you can put more into it and your neighbors will love you.I love it when flower boxes have trailing plants............All the recipes are on her blog........waiting for you to make your list and head to the nearest nursery. Going off my fabulous memory.......I believe they are in the Feb 08 archives......maybe 09.Thanks so much Darlene......you have helped me take the stress out of choosing my award winning boxes! Darlene is one passionate woman. She also loves to go garage sailing...........and she's not afraid to show you. Her husband even goes! Her blog makes you feel welcomed.....warm. No fuss.....real. She's so cute.
The exciting thing about Darlene's blog...........she is right in the middle of a kitchen remodel! I could do a little dance! Oh how we LOVE before and after shots. Here's the before........OAK..UGH! PAINT IT! I don't care if it's a "honey oak" PAINT IT!Ahhhh.........that's SO much better. She has more photos and even shows you how she gave it a distressed look. I can't wait to see the finished product.
Chalk boards.........can we get enough? Love them.........I do, and yes please.........I need coffee too......actually I'd love a Venti Shaken Iced Green Tea with no classic and 3 splenda's.........yes 3.........yes, I like it sweet. :)I think one of the most amazing things I learned, is she and her husband make rugs..........personalized rugs.......monogrammed rugs........wouldn't you love to be her friend. I'm sure she gives rugs away as gifts.........Darlene.......if we EVER become BFF I want a black one with a cream "D"..........
Loving the baby room. She had fun re-decorating her daughters room. Decorating with bold colors can be scary......I don't think she was scared............This turned out fabulous!Notice the rug......how nice to be able to design a rug for your own project.
Thanks Darlene! Keep us posted on your kitchen!!!!! (love the sign you made)
Thanks for all the comment love.

My hubs and I finally decided to paint and sand through our giant entertainment albatross....made from oak.
The minute we finally decided to do that I thought of you. And how proud you'd be of us. lol.
But my oak in-set cabinets. They stay. ;D

The flower boxes are beautiful! For those looking for them, they are the Monday, February 16, 2009 post. Although I didn't mind in the least looking through her posts to find them - what a great blog!

The flower boxes came at just the right time, my hubby is in the process of making me some, so I don't have to be embarassed about the front of my house anymore (flat, flat, flat!). I needed some flower box 'recipes'! You are fantastic-thanks for the link!
