The Recipe Girl

OK, I'm trying to be creative and coordinate my post with the Super Bowl. I'm usually not too good and that sort of thing and really should have posted something like this a few days ago.

Super Bowl is Sunday just in case you hadn't heard. Don't ask me who's playing.......but since I live with two male species, I do remember some muttering about a little red bird......a cardinal. I love Cardinals........especially around Christmas time.
To pretend I'm with it, we are planning our own little super bowl party. Just the 3 of us. We love our family parties. It has been heavily suggested that I should make chili and nachos. But I couldn't make it easy and make my 7 can chili...........I wanted a new recipe.......during my search, I found this blog. The Recipe Girl. She has a few ideas for Super Bowl. While there I found a whole lot more.

What I love about this blog is how she shows each step. Takes the fear out of it. And gives you lots of ideas for new things to try............or basically things I thought were just too hard.
CrockPot recipes are usually pretty user friendly. That's why we love our crockpots. Making chicken wings just got easier. Not that I have ever made chicken wings..........can't really stand eating meat off any bone.........and the meat a chicken wing offers is just not worth it to me.............just sayin......but I know A LOT of people LOVE them some chicken wings, especially for super bowl. Knock yourself out.

I am however making Nachos! No bones in nachos. She has a great recipe for them. I've got my organic restaurant style chips from Trader Joe's........I am so ready. (just so you know........my husband will roll his eyes if I mention to him that they are organic........this is coming from a guy who will eat pork rinds if I bought them)I'm also making chili............did I already tell you that? Well I just told you again. I didn't see a recipe on her site, but she has a yummy recipe for some corn bread..........which my son now declares is his favorite food after having some from the cafeteria yesterday.......how could I possibly compete? Now this isn't your typical Super Bowl food..................but WOW, doesn't it look good? Step by step instructions.........this one is finally baked in the oven. I KNOW! I would have never thought of that. She has recently started a weightloss program......charting her progress on her blog. Very inspiring and she has found many wonderful healthy recipes to tell us all about.

Of course this is not one of them. Yes, it's wonderful, but it certainly isn't a "healthy" one.I love it when a blogger shows all the ingredients! I have no idea why.......it just speaks to the organized fantasy I have.

Nothing more beautiful than a row of peanut butter cups.

I don't think this is photo of the finished product.........I just liked how all this photos looked. She has her top ten recipes for the year 2008 HERE. YUM

I just asked my son who was playing in the Super Bowl..........and with his answer, I can tell he wasn't too proud of his mom not knowing..........then he wanted me to tell you all that our family is rooting for the Cardinals! (the little red bird)

pup video - grace violet giveaway - and a thank you.

Thanks so much for the well wishes...........I am happy to say that after coating my nose in zicam several times, drinking EmergenCs and chicken with rice soup.........I woke up feeling pretty good. Then I accidentally took what I call my fish pill (omega 3s..bla bla bla) on an empty stomach. Let's just say..........DON'T DO THAT! After taking a couple of tums a couple of hours later and about 20 min before teaching step I was able to get through my classes.........burping fish while teaching step...........not ever a good thing.

No new feature today..........not that I don't have a ton in my FFF, but my time is limited, so I'll direct you to a new video of the pups.
And Kristin with Grace Violet (a past feature) is having a giveaway.

Singleton in the Kitchen

In my Zicam induced stupor I am craving some serious chicken soup.
There I go again being dramatic...........I haven't even had to blow my nose yet, but I can feel it coming.......I must get ahead of it.......I have 3 classes to teach tomorrow.............. So where do I head? Not to the kitchen, but to blog world. I didn't find a soup recipe, but I did find Singleton in the Kitchen.
Love her site design and why wouldn't I?.............it's designed by Shannon with Eight Crazy........one of my past features.

This gal is a transplant from Texas and we all know Texas girls can cook! Right? I really wouldn't know, but if you have a southern accent.........I'm sure you can cook better than me. And don't tell me you Texans don't have an accent, because to us bland NW talkers..........you have one, trust me.

I think what really got me is all the muffin looking goodies on her site.
I want one of these fruity ones RIGHT NOW!

And THESE! Don't they look amazing?I'm not even a pepper kind of girl, but these almost have me thinking I would try one .......with lots of butter of course.

We can always use ideas for dinner, right? Because we all know how much we love to cook dinner! It's our favorite time of day, especially if we have children who need help with their homework, or little ones who like to draw on walls......
How about some Sweet and Sour Pork? Mmmmmmm
How about some cookies? These look professional. I bet she just warmed them up and made it look like she baked them...........not a bad idea.......and I'm not ashamed to say that I would totally do that.

I could use one of those with my hot tea. Cuz I'm sick you know...........well almost.

Monkey Giggles

Hope is one of the most sweetest bloggers you will ever meet. Hers is another blog I thought for sure I had featured........sometimes I work so fast........I forget what I'm doing. :)

Monkey Giggles.........She is a Jill of all trades. She home schools, sews, decorates, hangs Christmas trees upside down from the ceiling and collects anything vintage...........especially suitcases.

I help notice that she's going through something challenging, and thought how a few of us heading over to see her blog might cheer her up......lift her up....you all know how you love comments and visits.........it's a blog thing........we all have a little bit show dog in all of us. Please leave Hope a message to lift her spirits. It's a good thing.
She's a creative being who loves to make funky beautiful things.

Or she finds something and adds her own flair. She even shows us Before and After shots........it's like crack for bloggers.........before and after shots......don't you think?

Simple lamp........
Don't even ask me how she did this one. I gotta go back and see......

Or this chair. Needs a bit of support............I'm not sitting in that chair.......No one likes to think their butt will sink through.........not a good look.

She fixed that. Love the denim.............she loves denim too.
How about another.........I don't think this would hold me either.......the one below............

But now.....ahhhhhh.....scoot over.

She made all those cushions!

I know it's not Christmas any longer, but I thought you should see this. That..........That is creativeness. I wonder if she got the husband eye roll on that one? You know the look........well at least I do anyway.

I always adore a woman who not only leaves me comments on my blog AND has my blog listed on hers.........but a woman who decorates with vintage luggage! I only have 3, but she apparently has an obsession........I mean collection. In her spare time..........she bakes. This Strawberry shortcake has me really craving summer. Or what about these chocolate cherry cookies................UNCLE!Head on over, give her a TCB bump and make her day. You guys ROCK!

Don't forget to check out Tokoni.com......tell your own story.

Can you stand it?

Our pup is 3 weeks old today! We are hoping for one of the black little girls......but the Sire's breeder gets first pick........and then Debi with Mt. Park Labradoodles will make sure the personality of the pup will match the personality of our family. She's so smart.

She has 6 pups left..........don't you think you should get one?

j caroline

I have been wanting to feature this girl for the longest time. jcaroline creative.........I admit it.........I'm a bit intimidated........I didn't want to leave anything out. She's pretty famous in the sewing world......she's even been published in many magazines. She can pretty much do anything with fabric and keep her sense of humor and we all know I can't do anything with fabric and my sense of humor would turn from wicked to downright evil.

She started j.caroline creative a few years ago when she was designing handbags. Since then, she has grown her business into a bit of all things creative. Need something? Check out her store.
What keeps me coming back to her site are her witty remarks, her fearless photos of her messy office (you will never see my messy scraproom) and all her crafty endeavors. This is her office after shot. Love the shelving. You have to read her post about this one. She just makes me giggle.

She is the master of re-upholstering furniture. This is one skill I would really like to have......

From this ugly old thing..........it's hard to imagine this being hip isn't it?

To this!!!!Or what about these two old forgotten bedside dressers. using fabric?.......this changes things people. It's not just paint anymore............watch out!Love the lines of this chair. Not the color.........She can fix it, just hold on. From drab.............to fab! Are you inspired yet? Or overwhelmed? Or maybe just plain depressed.

Well then how about a little treat?

Cupcakes from her daughters party. I can do that..........it's using paper.

To speak to my organizing obsession, I found these totes she made......with fabric from her store of course.

We've all been to Wordle.net..........(if you haven't you must go) She took her idea, printed it either on fabric or a iron transfer and made this pillow. Love that idea. My mormon sister did this for her neighborhood..........used Wordle that is. Printed out words for each family and framed it. Isn't that a great idea? I think one of her best re-do's............are these shoes! Who thinks to update their shoes?! This could start a trend.See...........I told you. Enjoy yourself while visiting j caroline. Be sure not to miss the mini Christmas photo shoot she tried with her daughter. Love the wit!

The Pretty Neat Company

I am currently obsessed with organizing! Too bad it's not showing. I guess you have to do more than just think about it, huh?
I think I'll just move in with Kiersten. The Pretty Neat Company
She's got it goin on.
She is another one of those professional organizer designers. She swoops in when you've lost your way.

Like this poor woman with her laundry room. She tried to make it work. She's got pretty appliances anyway and some of that wonderful SLAH stuff (Southern Living at HOME)

Super Kiersten to the rescue...........way better than any plastic tote! While we're talking washer and dryers.........here's her second set..........yes, I said second set.........in her master closet. Don't you hate her? Lovin the peek at the shoe rack too. This is how the organized folk clean their creative office.........Did I show you this before? I'm having a deja vue moment. (did I just spell that wrong) I KNOW I've seen it, just wasn't sure if I shared it here. LOVE how she has the art work hung in the corner.

This is the one thing I would change about my house........well I'm sure there is more than one, but today.......this is what I want. A mud room type bench........or at least the space to put one. This is very cool. I don't want to give away all of her great photos............but I had to include one of the kitchen.

She is the master at all kinds of tips to keep you organized, where to stash your stuff.......how to pull it all off.

I know Christmas is over, but just look. Look beyond the Christmas decor..........do you see it? The Chalkboard! With the wall words above it? LOVE IT! I think I now know what to do with that one wall in my kitchen.

Kiersten's site is so much more than I can give it justice in this short post.........I think you'll fall in love with her warm style and many many great ideas to help us all pull it off!
Enjoy! Just in case you haven't seen it...........I'm on twitter now. Somebody STOP me!

It's a new day.......and another opportunity to help

A few months back I held an online auction for Nie Nie. With your help we raised over $3000!

If you're a part of the blog world, then I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. If not, be prepared with a box of kleenex to cry tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
Nie Nie made her first post since the plane crash her and her husband survived last August.
What a tribute to the human spirit their story is.
Through blogging so many families have been helped when they need it the most.
If you missed my auction, LeLe will be hosting one for another family in need. She is looking for donations for auction items. Great way to help. Just leave her a comment stating you're willing to donate. You guys ROCK!

Down Abbie's Road ~ the whimsy of a staggering woman.

Ya know? When I posted Vintage Moth, I didn't realize that Abbie had another blog. Another blog full of eye candy. Eye candy that I think we all need to see. Down Abbie's Road, the whimsy of a staggering woman. (gotta love a title like that)

Looks like a Christmas card doesn't it? Just wait til you see the kitchen.............

but first.........how about the family room. I LOVE the built ins. That color red looks like the same red I have in my kitchen. Cayenne..........hmmmm, I doubt it though. My paint colors are only available in the NW.Darling little lamp. We love our birdies.Isn't this beautiful? I could stare at it all day. I'm trying to figure out if she designed it.

How bout this view? Lovely isn't it? Simple Beauty.

OK, OK..........I've held off as long as I can.

The Kitchen! There is NOTHING I don't like about this kitchen. The color of the cabinets, the old charm,

the sink! THE SINK!I think I would become a gourmet cook in this kitchen. I would never want to leave. I would be happy to stand at the sink and do dishes til the cows came home...............but I'd need a cute apron.Have a great weekend everyone!
