Water for Christmas

Many bloggers are helping Jody with this amazing project.  Yes, I’m a day late, but……better late than never I say.  Jody is an amazing woman.  IMG_3193

Mom to 6.

4 biological sons born within 5 years.

And twins (one boy, one girl) adopted in Sierra Leone, West Africa–arriving home in June 08.

Wife of a worship pastor and passionate musician.

Read Jody’s story here and her amazing quest to help people in Africa get one of the basic needs we take for granted.  Water.  A $20 donation will supply a person with water for 20 yrs.  But any donation is welcome.

Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. charity: water is a non profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 100% of the money goes to direct project costs.  With the help of exemplary organizations on the ground and individuals here, we can drill wells and provide people with this basic, essential need. “We were suffering so badly. And I would pray to God for help. I heard that they were coming to help us with a water pump and 10 latrines. And I would wake up and think I was dreaming. It could not be true.”

Wow! We are so blessed over here in America and take for granted the water that flow freely from our faucets.

I would like to do something more this year at Christmas. This may be it.

What an amazing opportunity-we know some missionaries who run an orphanage in Uganda and install fresh wells-it's such a worthy thing to give time or money to! We've heard firsthand testimony of how that fresh water has changed lives-amazing stuff. Thanks for sharing this today!

Even just reading this got me a little teary eyed. Sometimes, it's easy to forget how lucky we are until we hear something like... $20 will provide water for someone for $20 years. Wow, we take so much for granted.

Jody, I don't know if you're reading these comments, but if you are... God bless you.
