Love the plate idea. I have something like this and it is really fun. I actually have a card that you can write what the occassion was and keep a record. The mitten card is really cute as well.

Oh man, the red plate. My mother has had one for years and I am adamant on having one by the time we start a family. It's just such an amazing tradition that makes anyone feel special.

I just gave two Red Plates away as wedding gifts this past month. I got one as a wedding gift over 20 years ago and it has become a great family tradition in our house. We use it celebrate everything from winning soccer tournaments, straight A's, to birthdays. It is a great thing for any family to have.
