Shanty 2 Chic

Good Lord oh Mighty…….you guys are wearing me out……who upped the ante?  Seriously….I have never felt so un crafty in my life this past week, then I find these two sisters who are strutting their stuff….but they are kind enough to show us just how they strut. 

Shanty 2 Chic is two sisters that both moved into their homes around the same time.  They had a desire to decorate on a budget and boy howdy did they ever succeed.   These girls are movers and shakers when it comes to finding ways to decorate…..I have a feeling they’d make me car sick just watching them shop.

They find stuff like this pitcher.  I like roosters…..but they thought it would look MUCH better if they painted it.  Gotta love that spray paint.  I’m thinking a spray paint company should be a sponsor on TCB. 

They show step by step instructions for all their projects.  I am in love with the monograms and numbers.

I didn’t add the before.  The candle sticks were copper.  The frame wasn’t black and it was empty.  She added burlap to the painted frame, painted her candle sticks, added a few pumpkins and made an original center piece.  You go girls.

They do a lot with burlap.  I’m on a bit of a burlap kick myself, so I love that.  They stenciled on burlap and made a wall hanging.  They have it all step by step on their blog.

If you’ve been around TCB for awhile, you know I was having a shutter dilemma.  I had a heck of time finding the right ones for my family room.  So of course when I see other shutters, I have to swoon for a bit.

I’ve never thought to add molding to them.  Hmmmm, I wonder what she’s going to use these for?

Aha! A head board!  Sweet! 

One of the sisters must drink way too much coffee……she took this dresser….a highboy and converted it to a hutch!  Way too much work for me, but I wouldn’t mind if someone did it for me. 

Can you believe it?  She’s so smart.  And notice the burlap?  Mmmm.

 

Hands down, this below is my most favorite project on their site.  FAV! 

They made their own domino wall decor.  And guess what? She shows you a  full tutorial!  TUTORIAL!!!!  Don’t make me pee my pants ladies.

           I know!  Brilliant!  I know what we’re all going to be doing this weekend.

Melissa is one of those classically trained artists.  A graphic designer by trade, she loves all things creative.  She dabbles in a bit of everything and uses her eye for design to play, create, and fill her soul.

Of course what caught my eye right away, was this shirt she cut up into pieces.  Seems to be a lot of that going on lately…….re-purposing clothing.  I love the ruffles and then adding the daisy……perfection.

She shows you several ways to re-vamp something…..switch it up, make it work.  She took this dress that doesn’t look like much……..but added her own touch and…….

 

TaDa!  Isn’t she cute? 

She makes up her own stuff…….tutorials, patterns……..where ever her inspiration takes her.  Lots more fabric stuff on her blog.

 

She did a cool thing lately where she would ask people their favorite color, likes and dislikes…….with this information, she would then create something for them.    

This was for someone who loved Red and Zebra’s. 

  Or for another person she designed this cute little tissue holder.It is almost that time again isn’t it?I’m loving what she did for her Labor Day party.  She wanted to keep it simple and not spend money on decorations.  Is she brilliant or what?  Holy Moly….love it when it looks this good and it’s not so “pre-bought” looking.  Beautiful.

She also planned a party for her daughters first birthday.  Even things got too hectic to send out the invites, she still shows us what she planned…..(lots of templates on her blog too)Even without the invites, the party was a success.  Yellow was her theme……a color……not a character.  Love that.  See….you really don’t have to have Elmo for a 1st BD party. Sometimes you just gotta think outside the box……Cute face!   And this idea……….LOVE IT!  Use old jars, drill a hole in the lid……..OMGOSH!  Love that.   

 

Because she’s all over the place with her talent…….she shows you a tutorial on glass etching.  I really really need to try this.  What a great inexpensive gift for the holidays. Speaking of gifts…….she’s a whiz at booking binding and has a tutorial on her site.  

In addition to tutorials, she has a few freebies.  I don’t know what we like more……freebies, or tutorials?

Look what I found clicking through all your links you all posted on Get Your Craft On.  And you thought I started that to bring you more inspiration & excitement didn’t you?  Well it’s actually another way to find great features.  (insert wicked laugh)

I swear….well not really……..but I was certain I had already featured her….but I didn’t see the “featured button” ….that all featured bloggers post….ahem ….then I did a search on my own blog and she didn’t pop up……….so a feature is born.  V and Co.  What caught my eye on the link she shared with us on Get Your Craft On was the Pottery Barn looking decorative balls.

This doesn’t require sewing, so I am all over it!  I can spray paint like a pro and I own a glue gun…….I think I might even have a ball of twine around here………sure I do……….buried in my craft room somewhere.

I am really enjoying all the before and afters I’ve been finding lately.  I might even say I’m addicted to them.  They bought a house that needed a bit of work……a diamond in the rough you might say.  Who is Gods name would paint this color on the outside of a home like this? 

Well if they were bold enough to make such a decision…….certainly adding MORE blue inside would be perfect.  I think they were eating too many “brownies” and watching Trading spaces.  But V and her husband could see the future for this house….Something shiny caught their eye.

TaDa!!!  Would you look at the transformation?  You would never NEVER know it was the same house!  I bet their neighbors wanted to kiss them when they brought the property value up in the neighborhood.  You know what else?  Just a hunch that she’s from Utah?  You know how I can tell?  No no no, it’s not the glue gun, it’s not the children…..it’s that star……every house I saw this summer has a star.  I love them…..most are black I noticed…….I want one.

Speaking of that gaggle of children she has….they’re darling little buggers……..You’ll have to read her post on this photo below.  I just about pee’d my pants.  Those are her sons taking a Mud bath……..and she was cool enough to not freak out when she discovered them.

 

She has more tutorials on her site than you can shake a stick at.  And she sells all her patterns in her Etsy shop.   She’s a busy girl.

Who doesn’t love a fabric flag banner?  Everyone LOVES them…………good thing there’s a tutorial.

My Mormon sister made me a braided rug a few years ago.  I loved it!  She should make me another……..Kacie are you reading?

A fun tutorial that made me a little giddy was this farm sign.  Tutorial!!!!
