Pajama mama

Once again I had to search my own files…….I have visited her so many times and she is a regular reader/commenter….she’s one of my favs……..I naturally thought I had already featured her.

 Pajama Mama

There are just so many creative blogs out there, it’s hard to keep up.

Kristen is the mama to 3 little ones, so she tries to work in her creative time with lots of crafts, lots of creative endeavors to spruce up the home…….Another one of those blogs that has something for everyone.

After doing this blog for over 2.5 years, I always think I’ve seen it all………,kind of like Oprah…..but every week someone hits me up side the head with a new to me idea.  Kristen did just that.

No, no no……not with this next one, but you know I never tire seeing people paint a piece of furniture…….From Drab ….IMG_0712

To FAB!  Bub buy old wood……..hello wonderful paint.  Is that the same as mine?  I think it is……….mine is black now.

IMG_3933 Wait til you see what she did with this old table below.  Most of us would whine to our spouse about wanting a new fancy table from Pottery Barn…….we may even pout……some of you probably got your way.  But why buy at those prices when you can find an old…..probably better made table that needs some TLC. (no I am not saying PB tables are not well made….I am just saying that some older tables are better made than ALL new tables….I love you Pottery Barn, but you’re just too expensive for me)

mosaic66be2c91c425f54cc7dad982cb138d7d45129f11 With an old table like the one above you can even live on the edge a bit…….try something you wouldn’t with a more expensive piece.  She tried her hand at adding a stencil.  This is beautiful.  IMG_3983What a transformation.  You can see more photos on her site………then I’m sure you’ll leave her a nice comment………speaking of comments……PEOPLE……..I have noticed that very few of you are leaving comments for my featured bloggers.  It’s OK to diss me……but not the featured blogger.  Nothing warms my britches than to see them get tons of new comments.  Lecture over.  Smooch.  Are we good?

What is she doing here…….looks like a kid craft……hmmm, are those rubber bands?  IMG_2325

I thought this was the finished product…….and I thought it was pretty cool…….

IMG_2328

Then I realized that it was a stamp!  DUH!  Isn’t that cool?  This was one of those ideas that hit me up side the head.

IMG_2336Another idea that came out of no where for me was this iron on monogram!  On a lamp!  OIMG_0835N A LAMP!IMG_0852

She added velvet ribbon and the monogram…….all in 10 min.  No sewing.

I love her.

For gift giving, she is pretty thrifty…..It’s all in the packaging…….A personalized or creative gift is way better than something from Tiffany’s……….OK…..well better than something from Crate and Barrel.

Take a simple broom….some paint….

IMG_0809 You’ve got yourself the best bridal shower or house warming gift EVER!

IMG_0971   Of course she knows how to sew………bla bla bla….but I love that she made herself a slip cover for her baby Bjorn.  Most people would just go buy a new one……..but why should you if you can make due and make it better?  She’s pretty green like that……I love that about her.  IMG_2194Great idea for your home…….or even another house warming gift.  Take a photo of your home.  IMG_3062She has a tutorial on her site……She picked up the idea from you know who……..of course……..The Nester.  Nester Nester Nester.IMG_3065

Frame it and you’ve got yourself a one of kind piece of art work.  She also shows tutorials on this with some birds she painted with her children.

IMG_3063OK….what the heck is this? IMG_3087 Maybe I have seen it all now………Actually it’s some concoction she came up with to hold her beads in place for a project.  :)

Because she is so green…..she saves everything….toilet paper rolls……corks………tissue boxes……….Then her daughter made this castle.  How cool is that?IMG_2461

I used to keep a “discovery invention” box.  I threw odd shapes of plastic, old cds, junk mail, lids……pretty much anything I thought my son could create something from.  He had a great time with that box…….maybe I should start it up again.

Another thrifty girl……….she’s got her eyes open and scanning all the time.  She found this Christmas Star on sale……….decided to cover it with a bit of paper…..mod podge at it’s best.

IMG_1827IMG_1830   I think I must be the last one on the band wagon to try this freezer paper craft.  I love it…….as soon as my craft room is cleaned up……I’m on it!  Can someone come help me?

IMG_1578

Back to her stuff that came out of nowhere for me………As in using tongue depressors for name plates…….Simple, Cute…….original.  Just like Kristen!

IMG_1098IMG_1141

So many more ideas on her site and remember…….don’t be shy……leave her a comment……otherwise I’ll feel like a complete failure.

Can’t wait for the Friday Giveaway this week…………WHEEEEEEE!  You’re gonna die!
