The Lettered Cottage!

Sweet Layla........a true Southern girl through and through. The Lettered Cottage.Once again, I swear I featured her already. But I don't see my featured button on her site.......I don't even see my other button on her site..........I don't even see my blog listed as a favorite......but guess who's blog is listed and has a button..........you guessed it......The Nester! Nester Nester Nester......what is so great about her? Oh ya..........she's talented, funny and has great ideas.........whatever......... I'll forgive her......because I'm nice like that....but she better put her new featured button up STAT!

Layla's blog speaks to the decor thriving side of my personality.....it makes me swoon.......it makes me want to completely change all my color schemes to black, linen, a bit of blue and lots of neutral tones......She makes me want to run out and buy a fixture upper just so I can see if I'm as talented as her in creating the most amazing transformations. Whoa.......I'm getting way ahead of myself here. I'm sure just a trip to Home Goods would give me just as much pleasure and not cost nearly as much. She is simply inspiring.

This girl has style........Simple Style.......Magazine Style.

Anything with numbers....I'm such a sucker for numbers. After spending a bit of time at her place, you realize she should do this for a living.....and guess what? She does. And guess what else? She has a way of helping you, the person who doesn't live near her! She has a special program with photographs, virtual redecorating........so if you're feeling challenged, stuck, uninspired.......Layla is only a click away. See below how she would take your photograph and change it up.Send her your photograph of your problem area.......rooms people rooms....... and she'll fix it up and show you what you should change. Can you imagine having her for a next door neighbor? I would just copy every detail........

Her and her husband bought this little fixer upper.....she has done us the favor and documented the whole thing with lots of photos. Thanks Layla.

Here's the kitchen / dining room BEFORE
And AFTER! I cannot tell you how much I love this simple look.
Dining room......diggin that screen door.
The fireplace BEFORE: Can you believe all that paneling? God love 'em, but these wood loving people need to get over it and get the paint brush out. PAINT THE WOOD.......PAINT IT!AFTER: She changed the mantle to a larger more modern dark wood. Yes, it's OK not painted........she plans on changing the brick with a different tile later down the road. She also got rid of those hokey lanterns.

Living room BEFORE: ACK!!!......all that wood is upsetting my stomach. It's amazing she was able to see beyond all this and make it what it is...........she is a miracle worker for sure.
Can you believe it's the same room? Who is this woman? Does she secretly work for Pottery Barn?

Here's an old table she found..........one that looks like one she saw in a Pottery Barn mag. I like how she designed the top. That monogram runner.......mmmmmm
I have some burlap in my craft room closet..........because I'm crafty and all.........and I may see if I can make one of these. Then I could just stamp my monogram..........Dang I love all the ideas I get from all these blogs I find..........and I always give credit where due.......really.

Alrighty........off you go......be prepared to hate her for a split second before you fall in love with her style.

See you tomorrow!

Listen, you. When I get no housework done in the next 24 hours because I'm sitting here at my computer, I'm telling my hubby it's your fault. You and Layla can take all the blame. OK? *lol*

You know I love it when you talk about me. Isn't Layla uber, sickeningly talented? Makes me want to burn everything I have that's color and pattern and be all about the texture and neutrals.

LOVE her.

Love you.

Love her! Well, I love her and hate her...love her because she's so stinkin' wonderful and talented and sweet, and hate her because she makes it look so darn easy! I'm glad you featured her. She deserves it!

First of all, I love the way you write. You crack me up! I think I could chat with you for hours and never get bored. Thanks for the smiles.
I LOVE The Lettered Cottage. We are building a guest house over our garage, and I got some inspiration from Layla's kitchen. I got the same corbels for my open black cabinets that my husband made. It turned out fabulous! Thank you Layla!
