Flipflops and Applesauce

OK, this is the 3rd time I have sat down to write this post! After spending an hour, I had it finished yesterday.......my finger hit some magic button on my laptop.....and just like that it was all gone. Being in a panic and being super smart.......I hit the SAVE NOW button.......which saved the blank page. Yea.....I was a bit irritated.......but this blog is so worth it, 3rd times a charm, right?
Chrissie with Flipflops and Applesauce is another one of those blogs that is so full of everything we creative bloggers crave..........she's got great kid craft ideas, great parenting ideas, cute kids, a wonderful story about their family journey.........great decorating ideas and she's cute. She's got it all and I'm pretty sure she'll agree with you on that one thinking you're only speaking about her family. Before you get sucked up into all the fun creative stuff, you must read her Chapters on how they became a family. It will lift your day. Very inspiring.
I featured her twin sis a few months ago who is crazy talented. (although she didn't display her feature button....can you imagine? I still love her site anyway.) You can read her feature here....She has an inspiring story too and has great great jewelry she designs!

Chrissie is the mother of two girls who are also twins. I am in awe with all the crafts she does with them and I really love the fact that she's not a fussy mom......she's a fun mom.......make a mess mom..........she even states in her profile that things should go undone just so you can soak up the moments with your children. I SO agree on this one.
Trust me on this one all you obsessive cleaners out there. My husband comes from a family of obsessive "everything in it's place" house and his memories are of his mother cleaning, ironing and making them play outside so they didn't get the house dirty.......his friends in highschool teased him that his house was like a museum.

She makes learning fun............like this table setting coloring sheet. There is an amazing story to go with this.......something about the queen being kept away from her king........What a great way to learn. I need to remember this around Thanksgiving. Being so instrumental about learning and play being hand in hand, she has her own number and alphabet books she designed! You can get more details on her site. Aren't those cute? You'll also find most projects are do-able with everyday household items that you already have........like Q-tips..........or if you're one of those mom's that is careful not to "brand" things.......I'm sure you have some cotton swabs around. And glue.........we have glue right? And glitter? Although I'm thinking this can be done without the glitter if wanted. She shows mini-tutorials with most projects. WE LOVE A TUTORIAL!!!!

Perfect project for winter and according to that hedgehog......we have a few more weeks of it.
While we're using household items.........how about recycling those old dryer sheets and making some butterflies to hang from the bedroom ceiling?Speaking of the bedroom ceiling..........she striped this chandelier of all the electrical stuff....hung it in her daughters bedroom using those flameless votives. Dreamy!Chrissie believes in making the mundane a celebration..........and I also love the fact that she has a whole label just for paper bags.
Why not make eating popcorn even more fun? At least it would be cute and be great for a photo-op.
She says all you need are pinking shears to dress up a bag..........WOW! Add a hole punch and you're in business.I love simple ideas that have that big WOW! This is a great project for all ages and so needed.
Book markers! Love this idea. I have never seen this before..........kind of an AHA! moment for me.Now I would be surprised if she required her girls to stop their creative mojo to put an apron on........but these are pretty cute and perfect for you mom's who are spending way too much on your children's clothing that you have to worry about them getting dirty.......you know who you are........stop it..........let'em play.
These cute little aprons are made from a plastic place mat, add some buttons and ribbon and you've got yourself a cute apron to keep those expensive clothes clean. This is minimal sewing......even I could do it. All you do is fold over the corner and sew a button on..........I can do that! She has the tutorial on her site.
I could actually use one of these for a bib.
Go and pay her a visit! Leave her lots of comments!........do you think she'll display the feature button? :)

Thanks for all your compliments on my new design. Shannon did an excellent job. I'm lovin it.

I think she should tell her story over at Tokoni.com......then have it printed.

So great as usual! I will go check her out immediately!
I love the story on your blog about the puppy-I would love to do that for my kids, but the thought of having to actually live with the puppy after the initial surprise and giddyness were over keeps me from doing it-maybe after my babies are bigger...good luck with her!
