Sassy Rooster

It's been a busy day around here ladies. I hit a neighborhood yard sale and found a few goodies. Mostly excited about a 3 tiered fountain I bought for $15! It will be posted on my personal blog soon.

Sassy Rooster
Arlene contacted me about blogging........how to get in the groove. Clicking on her site, I can tell right away we are dealing with a over talented creative person who obviously doesn't know that she is ............special. Cute cute header. You know what I mean........I mean you have creative like me.......and then you have creative like Arlene. It's like those women who look like Miss America and have no idea their pretty. Or the women who are size 4 and have no idea how small they are..........grrrrr.

She's got amazing talent, I can't wait to see what else she's going to post.

You can tell her house is darling, but there are no photos of her home on her blog ...........yet. Her blog is new. Give her time. Plus she probably doesn't even realize that we would want to see it..........we do! We do! I bet if we hound her and bombard her with comments, she may get that digital camera busy and show us some love.

LOOK! Look at these darling brooms she paints! I have never seen anything like it before...............Yes, yes I've seen a broom before.......even though it may not look like it in my kitchen.........but I meant those brooms.
And she's a graphic designer who designed these labels for a bread sack gift she's doing. She does some big craft fair, so she's getting ready now. Those are darling. What a great idea.......she even gave us the recipe on her site.

Even though her site is new, I can tell it's going to be one of those really really good ones. She's going to continue to make me drool.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Delight!

This blog is creative in a whole different direction than I normally go.

You all know how much I love to shop....especially if it's a bargain. I also love it when you can find a review to back up the reason you "need" something. This blog brings you the latest and the most original products. I love finding something new........kind of like my own little Aha moment.

Delight was first brought to my attention when I joined Delightful Blogs........a wonderful place I sometimes search for blogs. They have so many great sites all under one place.........kind of like me.........but different. There are actually blogs out there that have nothing to do with crafts, or being creative.........not that I have actually looked at any........but they have them........just in case.

Like these SIGG bottles. I love seeing what they have come up with and what the review will be. You guys may not realize this, but I am the biggest water bottle snob there is. Being a fitness instructor, you have to have a water bottle that works. I am getting ready to transition to all Sigg bottles soon. I think these will be perfect........and better for me too.
Delight usually leans to being very eco friendly.........I like that.

These file folders are from recycled materials......so cute. Who doesn't like pretty folders? I didn't even know I needed them until I saw them.........that's a bad thing isn't it? Same with these little baskets...........they are actually made from place mats. Isn't that a great idea? Love that.......and I actually think you could make these without a sewing machine. Often when I visit, I find the most unique items. I love me some Target shopping, but you're not going to find these adorable pop up place mats there. Not sure if this would work in my house, I'm sure my son would rip those pop ups off...........but a girl can dream. Just think how cute these would be for a birthday party with a dinosaur or something???I fell in love with these bird candlesticks. I think that's one of the reasons I signed up on Delightful..........I liked their little bird. This idea isn't anything new........little magnetic frames for your fridge. But these are way cuter than any I've seen.

So many great ideas, or gift ideas. I also love their style of writing. So, when you need a little shopping break for cool creative things, this is the place to head.

Grace Violet

So many reasons I could say why I chose her today...............from the pineapple on her title banner.....I knew right away she must be obsessed with pineapples like me....or could it be because she has my blinkie so cheerfully blinking away? That always catches my attention and makes me blush. Besides those reasons, the real reason is because she has some cute and fun ideas.
Grace Violet
Kristin is one of those people.........those people who can make cute things from fabric. She has great taste in fabric! Most days I am so happy that I don't sew, because there are just way too many great fabrics out there and I couldn't choose. I would end up with more fabric than I have scrapbook products.........and I still probably wouldn't have that one fabric that I need..........the discontinued one I posted below. :(
This site also has LOTS of tutorials! Especially on sewing. So when I finally bring my mother's old sewing machine in from the garage, I know where I'll come. She says this bag is a no brainer...........or something like that. But I'm tellin you.........if I actually made a bag that looks that good, I'd be the crazy lady telling everyone in the grocery store.

Another tutorial.........products needed.........Ta da!!!! Or is it Tah Dah!!!!! Cute! This little tee was actually inspired from something read HERE on this blog! I love little things appliqued on white tee's. She talks about decopaging on fabric.........I must go back and read more slowly. Could this mean........NO SEWING MACHING? But before I get my hopes up, I do remember seeing her sew the green trunk of this tree .........D$&@* She does like to decopodge though. Aren't those cute? I don't know if she has an Etsy shop.......but she should.Another take on silohettes. She did these for her nieces. Darling. I just love this little kitchen, don't you? They didn't have anything this cute when my son was little and before he declared his war on the color pink. We bought him this cheap ugly little kitchen from Toys R Us when he was 1 1/2 or so.......thinking that he probably wouldn't play with kitchen stuff for long........boy were we wrong. We should have invested in a nice kitchen like this. He played with all his fake food, pots and pans til he was at least 5 or 6! I've noticed that Target has such cute things now too. And the walls...........look at the walls! Kristin is another one of those ultra organized planners.............she's kicked it up a notch and made herself this fancy planner. This girl is only beginning. I can tell she's gonna have so much more to show us. Bring it on!

Please don't forget to let her know how you found her. TCB readers are the best!

Waverly Bee Dazzler in Ebony

Bzzzzzzz..................I should have a new blog for you all to swoon over tomorrow. But until then, I thought I would post this.........I posted this on my personal blog, so I thought why not post it on here too. The more eyes the better.
I love this fabric.........it's discontinued. Had I known when I bought the swatch that it was soon leaving this earth, I would have bought a bolt of it. It's so me to want something I can't find.

I thought that perhaps one of the nice blog readers might...........might.........have a few yards of this. Or maybe you've seen an extra bolt in the back room of your favorite fabric store?

I can find it in the Cabernet and golden color, but not the black.......or Ebony as they call it. I should call Waverly and ask them why they took this away. I can't be the only one that loves it can I? Love those bee's. I should have placed a penny next to them so you can see how tiny they are.
Bzzzzzzz

Happy Weekend!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Let Summer begin!
I will most likely take the weekend off from blogging........I don't really plan these things, so you never know.
Memorial Weekend usually means the beginning of Lake time for us..........but of course we are having crappy weather this weekend so we opted to stay home. I hope to clean a bit, see a movie...........I finished my book yesterday.......so maybe I'll start a new book. Maybe there are a few yard sales somewhere?

If you are new to my Creative Blog, please note the links on the left side. They are all past features over the last year. Enjoy! If you're looking for inspiration, I'm sure you'll find something. If you're looking for something a bit for specific, check out the category list on the right.
And of course I can't miss an opportunity to push my blinkie! You can have a blinkie! The cute black framed one! Just copy the code and place it on your blog! It's so cute, I don't know why you wouldn't want it. :)
Enjoy the weekend!

The Desperate Diva

A little bit of everything! That's what you'll find at The Desperate Diva. Dianne is one of the founders of The Snooty Woman's blog.......yes, the one that just featured ME! I had never been to her blog before and I am so glad to be able to scratch her back because I love her blog. She's got great ideas for entertaining...........this is one woman I do NOT want as a neighbor. I couldn't even come close to measuring up. She is like Martha on crack. She's amazing as you'll see when you visit.
What ever she starts as a hobby usually ends up as a business........which explains ALL of her websites full of fun things.........it looks like she just opened up a cute cafe.......I need to go back and read some more..............I don't have a full grasp of all her businesses, but I will. It's gonna take me a bit to acquaint myself......there is just so much there.

Once there, you figure out pretty quickly that she is spoiled! Spoiled Rotten!
Would you look at her linen closet? Kitchen linens.........she thinks this is a mess. I think it looks awesome!
Just when I make the decision to simplify my life.........get rid of things I don't think I need, I see her blog. She is so ready for any event. How wonderful to be able to plan a beautiful event at a moments notice..........like this belowHer Grand daughter called her last minute and told her that they were coming over to have dinner at her house for Prom. It's fun to read and feel the warm relationships she has with her grand daughters.

They do lots of cooking together........here's a cute one above........but what really grabs me here......my shallow side is rearing it's ugly head...........but what I really love about this photo is the kitchen! Would you look at that range? Red knobs? Love those.........and that back splash?

Since she cooks, she has an apron for just about every event............that's what I need..........more aprons. Maybe then I would be just like her. I think she makes them too......... Martha on crack.....

And maybe if I had a rolling pin like this one, I might make even make a pie..........come on......who has a rolling pin like that except for spoiled rotten women. :)

Drooling alert ahead.........I was just thinking this morning how I would LOVE to have every cupboard completely organized.........it was a dream really. Then I see hers. How wonderful to have all these baking dishes and all in those colors! I'm thinking she knows a Southern Living at HOME person.

This drawer makes my heart sing!

Now why haven't I thought of this? What a great idea! She makes paper plates look fancy. And look how nice it looks. Won't your guest be impressed? I need some of those.

And since there's all this kitchen talk........she has recipes. Blueberry dumplings! Oh my!Ok, maybe I do want her as a neighbor..........I could be getting gifts like these. She has a post about making the cutest gifts with a few baked products. She is ready...........here is her supply closet........wow! I love seeing all those items all organized. But wait...............Here's a peek into her sewing room...........Good Golly Miss Molly!A couple of shots to prove she really is spoiled..........just in case you thought I was just exaggerating. And her outdoor room.......................Don't visit her until you have a few moments. Like I said she has more websites and fun things than.........I don't know what. But she's busy..........and everything looks so nice. Great ideas for spoiling others.........great eye candy and you leave refreshed.

The House in the Roses

Cielo takes the crown for being the most romantic blogger! The House in the Roses.........If you like a romantic home and lots of ideas for making your home look romantic, you must visit Cielo.........even her name is romantic. Just wait til you see her..........I think she should be a model for one of those romance novels......long flowing hair, exotic dark eyes... etc.....

Cielo LOVES roses.............LOVES THEM! Crazy for them, her blog has them all over. In fact she just got home from visiting my home..........well not my actual home........but, Portland.........the city of Roses. I would have invited her to my home had I known she was coming to Portland........but I only have one rose bush, she would have been so disappointed with me.
It was fun seeing her write up on what she thought of Portland. It's a great place..........so great that we moved to the other side of the river for better schools. LOL..............no really, it is a great city and I still feel like that's where I live.........I'm only 15-20 min away. Cielo did you eat at Jake's? Did you hit Powell's Books?

Cielo has an appreciation for pretty table settings. Placing just the right arrangement to get that feeling. Love the green apples with this.Or maybe you prefer something more formal?

It's fun to see her mix it up........cottage meets romance. You can tell her husband simply adores her giving her full reign to fluff the house..........as it should be...........right ladies?See that dresser to the left? She repainted it..........I think the wicker chair is a repurposed item too. She's not partial to just roses, she admires all flowers...........the more the better. And since I'm a bit distracted with outdoor areas right now, I couldn't help post this shot of her patio space. I'll have a margarita please. You won't be disappointed when you visit her. She has a fun style of writing, she's sweet and she has some pretty photos. Please tell her I sent you.

Look at me! Just look!

Well well...........lookie here.
I'm in the Snooty Womans Club Blogs of Fame

Thanks so much to the women over at Snooty Women's Club. I am so glad that they can tell from my blog that I can be a bit snooty at times.........We all need to be at some time or another, right? In my old age, I have become a coffee snob, a lotion snob, a bare minerals snob, a toothpaste snob, an underwear snob.........you know, the important stuff........we get set in our ways and I don't think it's because we are being rigid.........it's because we have finally figured out what we like..........right?
Actually it means:
S - Social
N- Neighborhood
O- of
O- Outstanding
T -Talented
Y - Young Spirited Woman

The Snooty Women's Club has many features of women with great blogs. Check them out.

Thanks again ladies, that was so sweet of you.

I hit a few yard sales today on my way home.........so exciting and kind of weird too. You can read more on my personal site. Scrap To My Lu
I found this cute pot for my outdoor room........paid too much for it. $1.50 But you could tell the people were the type that thought their stuff was so valuable. I am on my way to Freddy's for a flat of petunias.....only $9.99
Baseball tonight..........shaved ice is for dinner.

Make and Takes

OK.........I'm not sure, but I'm thinking I have told you all how much I love tutorials! Even though I can be crafty, I'm not always a risk taker. Some crafts I think are too hard, so I don't try them. Lame....I know. But you mom's know.......you know how precious your time is.........I don't need to suck up a bunch of time on a project that's not going to work. Let someone else figure it out........then teach me. That's my motto. That's what Make and Takes is all about.

Marie with Make and Takes is the typical gung ho mom that makes alot of us look lazy.........not that we really are......it just looks that way next to super mom Marie. She's got one up on us though.......she was a kindergarten teacher for a few years before staying home with her own darlings..........see I told you, she a professional. I know how these k-8 teachers think..........you see I had 4 room mates that were k-8 elementary ed majors........I was the only k-12 PE major. These gals saved EVERYTHING. McDonald's Styrofoam big mac containers (yes, mikky d's has come a long way.......at least they're not using that crap anymore), toilet paper rolls, buttons, ........you name it and they had it. Fast forward 20 years and I found myself saving all this junk for crafty things for my son. I should have never scoffed at their habits.

Anyhoooo................................Marie with Make and Takes has so many great ideas for family fun. Some really simple and some really inventive. She keeps these kids busy. What happened to watching TV?
Kids love stamping with food. Love these Apple Cards......
And I have always wanted to do this........melt down a few crayons.
Into these........what fun.
Hand puppets are always fun for little ones.
Now this one is one I can honestly say that I have never seen or heard of. Painted bread that you toast. Yum yum.......I think. But I bet the kids loved it.

And another one I have never heard of or thought of. Probably because it takes planning......as in planning ahead. You take a bowl, place a toy inside, fill with water and freeze. You can place it in their bath or let them play in the sink. ..........because you know how they love playing in the sink.....and it NEVER makes a mess. Just wait til her son wants to play in the sink with his hot wheels that have been in the sand box all winter.......yea.....no mess. With Spring just starting to show it's self here, I loved this idea. And it's recycling at the same time........I guess that's really what all these elementary teachers are doing.........recycling. This bird feeder is so cute. And it doesn't look too hard. But for those rainy days you know will happen, here is a project that uses...........you guessed it........a toilet paper roll. She's got the tutorial on her site. In fact EVERYTHING is pretty much a tutorial. I will leave you with this last project that I think is brilliant! Etched casserole dishes.......Great for a gift or just so you get it back. The tutorial is on her site.If you have little ones around, this site is great! So many simple everyday ideas to entertain even the most active child.

Don't forget to tell her how you found her.

Taste Spotting

I've run out of time for the computer today.........totally miffed that Parvati won Survivor last night.........so..............this is all I have for you guys today.
This is an interesting site. Taste Spotting. It's not really a blog, but every photo you click on takes you to a blog.........so basically it works for me. I love all the photos.
I could be there for hours.......and I probably would but my little guy has baseball practice. I plan to walk the track since I barely move teaching my water classes........gotta get a sweat going today.

Holy Guacamole!ymmmmmAll this amazing food and I'm eating at Pollo Loco tonight...... Something is so wrong with my life today.
