Crafts for Kids

All comments in the month of May will automatically be entered to win a Lisa Leonard Necklace!  I love mine!image

You’d have to be half dead if you didn’t already know of my featured blogger today.  But on the slight chance she is new to you…….then it’s your lucky day…….you’re going to feel even more alive today!

Scribbit has been around……..that’s why she’s got so many great ideas on her site.

She’s a mother living in Alaska who keeps her kids busy with adventures and creative tasks.  What I love the most is how she creates an activity that doesn’t require a bunch of consumer products.  Most of her projects can be duplicated today with what you have in your home right now.  Those are the kind of activities and projects we need to keep kids busy.

With school out for some of you and only a few more weeks for the rest of us, Our focus turns to just that………keeping the kids busy!

My son will be all over this one.  Create your own Eco-System.  Look complicated?   No worries, because she’s got a tutorial with step by step instructions.image  Smelly!  When I was a kid, I LOVED projects like this.  What kid doesn’t like fun stuff like this below.   It’s a smell test.  Not only is it fun, but gosh, they may learn something at the same time.  I’m pretty sure it’s even more fun in cute pink and brown polka dot cups.image Color Match!  Another simple but fun idea.  First they get to paint……then send them outside searching for nature’s gifts in the same colors.  Big and small are going to love this.imageTaste Test- It’s projects like this that make you the best mom in the world.  Once again, I love this kind of game.  Create a taste test with certain foods.  She chose vanilla ice cream. image I  may be going out on a limb, but I bet kids would remember this over an overpriced trip to ChuckE Cheese.  (thank God my son never liked that place much) image One tried and true activity we do in our home that has lasted through the years, is making toothpick sculptures.  We use marshmallows instead of packing peanuts….both work great!  This will keep them busy for at least 30 min.

And then you can have them try this fun poking activity……..anything destructive makes my son’s heart sing.  AT least this has a bit of technique to it.image    When you visit her site, you’ll notice she is a mean knitter….not as in cranky mean, but really talented mean.  Such beautiful things she makes with her hands.  imageOf course she’s creative……but look what she figured out.  imageShe made this cute little button so she could create different looks for wearing a scarf…..a scarf she knitted of course.imageWith Memorial Day coming up quickly, you’ll enjoy this beautiful story she shares about this gorgeous Memorial Day quilt.  Heartbreaking, but very very sweet.image  I’d love to meet her some day and exchange Alaska stories.  You see, I worked in Kenai one summer many moons ago…..I still can’t believe I did that.  But I was young and adventurous…….that’s what we do.

OK, off you go…….go make me look good and make her feel good.

If you’re looking for more crafts for kids to keep them entertained, check out one of my past features.

Tonya X 3

Tonya is a dynamo! Not only does she write 3 blogs..........but she also has twins. I seriously think she's got that overachiever problem.........

Munchkins and Mayhem, the party starts here is a blog that somewhat surrounds it's self around celebrations........all celebrations. She's been a regular commenter and I didn't even know she had this one.........so maybe she's humble too. Love the ideas on this one.
Like this project bag she put together. Every kid loves those candy necklaces............but mom's hate the sugary mess it leaves........with all that dye and all. I suppose if you are a candy necklace purist.......you could use Honey Nut Cherrioes...
I have no idea what these are, but I'd eat one.
These look wonderful! The color is amazing......they look so good and healthy.
If I were to have another baby.......God forbid at 47......I would have her plan it. Look at the detail.

Her second blog is Currently Crafting where you'll find all kinds of crafty projects...........most with instructions or TUTORIALS! We LOVE THOSE!

This below was a project for art easel clips she made for the twins. Flynn and Marisol........don't those names just make you melt? She's an Aussie......so that's probably where she found her original sounding names to us boring Americans. You'll also find these cute little knitted pastries she whipped up for her daughter with the cool name. This woman is so smart! She has made a "color" book for each color to help the kids with cool names learn their colors. Lots of other information inside too and she shares it all on her site.
No matter h0w many times I see this, I love it. Melting down your old broken crayons.
I could have been a much cooler mom had blogging been around about 9 yrs ago.

She does an awful lot with paper crafts too. She did a little mailbox for all her children.

Cute card.....easy......simple and a child could help. Love it.

And her last blog is her family blog A Day In My Life where she shares the creative lifestyle of a mother with a teenage son, twins and a husband who is deployed...........and I thought my life was crazy. She shares many a photo of her beautiful kids........She gets some really cool shots.

You can find so much entertainment with her sites...........whether it's looking for party ideas, crafty ideas or just reading about the daily antics......Darling girl, she really is.

Missy Muh

I'm tired people........tired! It's Thursday and so far I have made good on my promise to post a new blog everyday this week! I even posted on my personal blog..........funny story about May Day. You'll have to check it out.

OK, today's post was going to be a sketch blog........yes again. Because we can never have too many sketches. I loved this one.......But when I clicked on their guest designer, I was blown away. (for the record, the above sketch was not from her) I heard myself do that little gasp sound and that can only mean one thing........they must be featured.

Missy Muh has a wonderful blog. Claire is an Aussie scrapper, so you know she has that cute accent we all adore. I simply love her layouts. Just look at them............I can't stop looking.......I have those orange wishes...........I need to use them.Their messy in a good way, lots of color........you know I love color and so artistic. I just found her this afternoon, so I really don't know much yet. She could be a "famous" published scrapper for all I know..........I am trying to get better at reading names in the scrapbooking mags, but I'm just not interested in that when I'm drooling over all the fun eye candy. Horrible I know, because I suppose if I was in a magazine, I would want everyone to know it...........but that's not going to happen, so let's move on...............

Anyway.........she's a crafty one with cute kids. She is another multi-crafter. She takes great photo's and even makes her living doing children's photography. Can you just feel that skin? She also makes things and sells them on this site, which I have never heard of. Great!........another site to fuel our addictions.

There's a little bit of everything at her site. I wonder if she'll be as excited as luka bella about being featured? I have to admit.........I love it when people get excited! Makes my day...........so do comments. :) But if you only have time for one comment, leave it for her when you visit her.

Happy May Day!
