The Object Project

This being back from vacation is brutal.  Teaching all my classes this week after not doing a whole lot wasn’t too fun….and is it possible to gain weight in one butt check?  Because my shorts have felt crooked all day……..no matter how many times I adjust them.

On with the feature………..The Object Project is one of those amazing sewing blogs.  I'm sure the author, Leigh Ann started sewing when she was 3.   She’s like one of those great cooks that never follows a recipe……but with sewing and making her own patterns.   She’ll make you jealous……..I’m warning you now.

Her tutorials are to die for……..they even make ME feel like I may be able to  do them.  ME!  What I love the most about her tutorials is seeing the everyday objects she uses for making her projects.  LOL  Get it?  (objects……projects……)

She’s a pure sewing genius.  For instance, this little owl coloring sheet may be her inspiration………6a01156f2b6799970c0115706a46b9970b-800wiA little bit of paper piecing………hey I used to do that back in the day of scrapbook paper piecing…….back in the day when I scrapbooked.  :)6a01156f2b6799970c01156f744504970c-800wiChoose her fabric………6a01156f2b6799970c0115706a4b66970b-800wiAnd made a cute little owl wash buddy……….the full tutorial is on her site.6a01156f2b6799970c01156f74415d970c-800wi

Not only can she make her own patterns…….look at the drawings she does to design a bag.  Holy heck Martha…….I would frame that.

Love the fabric choices….6a01156f2b6799970c01156fc9cb75970c-800wiThis is what I was talking about………in her tutorials, she’ll use household items for her measuring templates.  Cracks me up.6a01156f2b6799970c011570795013970b-800wiLittle purse……..it looked simple too.  It’s nice having her give you so many details in her tutorials.6a01156f2b6799970c011570794f46970b-800wiI don’t remember what this tutorial is for……….I just liked the Starbucks cup….feeling a bit Starbucks deprived after my 2 weeks in Utah.  (which by the way if you want to follow my vacation wrap up and who wouldn’t, you can view it on my personal site.)6a01156f2b6799970c0115705f22b6970b-800wi

Oh……here we go.  This is what she was doing with those scraps……she makes fabric corsages.  Cute.

6a01156f2b6799970c01156f690f54970c-800wi

She has all her tutorials listed on the side bar making it very very easy to navigate.  So I guess she’s organized too.  :)

You’ll find things such as this doodle bird………a cock a doodle bird.  I thought it was pretty funny….some of you may not think so.  But what a great “gag” gift for someone…….not sure who, but someone.  Good thing I can’t sew……..everyone would be getting these for Christmas.

6a01156f2b6799970c011570361f32970c-800wiAnother cute idea……tracing puzzle pieces for shapes…..cute bib.6a01156f2b6799970c011570ab51a2970b-800wiAhhh………another Starbucks project.  This was a fathers day cup cozie…..but you could put any photo in it.  6a01156f2b6799970c01156ffe79d9970c-800wi Stay tuned…..I feel a giveaway coming up this week…….If you blog, you’ll be very excited.

Stop wondering and go visit my new feature.  Don’t forget to leave her a comment……..who cares about me…..but DO leave her one.  :)

I don't know if you can gain in just one side but mine have been crooked for years. I always just thought the pants were all lop-sided. lol I think the rooster is funny, too. And yes, another great site. Thanks for finding them for us.

I'm such a sucker for a good sewing tutorial! I have so many bookmarked that I will get to one day....

hehehe... I love the rooster :)

Kim, since you teach fitness classes, you probably gained muscle in one cheek - hence the lopsided shorts. I recommend a month of TV just to even things out again. :)

Yes, it is possible to gain weight in that, well, um, awkward sort of way. I am convinced. Or, the dryer did it! :) Nice review. I am heading over to find some inspiration. ~Kelly
